1. The Dog and His Reflection

A dog found a piece of meat one day and while walking with it in his mouth near a stream, he saw another dog in the water with another piece of meat.
He was not aware that it was his own reflection and not another dog.
So, wishing to have the other meat, too, not satisfied with his own, he opened his mouth to grab it.
But at that moment, his meat fell into the water and it was carried away till he couldn’t see it any more.
So, he remained hungry that day.
2. The Hungry Mouse

3. The Fox and The Grapes

But the grapes were too high and up for him to reach.
Even when he got up on his hind legs, he couldn’t quite get them.
So he decided to jump.
He jumped as high as he could, but he couldn’t get near them.
He took a run and jumped even higher.
Still no luck.
He jumped again and again, until he was so hot, he had to give up.
“Oh well,” he said as he walked away, “I don’t really care. They are probably sour anyway,”.
4. The Foolish Donkey

A salt seller used to carry the salt bag on his donkey to the market every day.

The donkey was happy.
Then the donkey started to play the same trick everyday.
The salt seller came to understand the trick and decided to teach a lesson to it.
The next day he loaded a cotton bag on the donkey.
Again it played the same trick hoping that the cotton bag would be still become lighter.
But the dampened cotton became very heavy to carry and it suffered much.
It learnt a lesson.
Afterwards it did not play the trick and the seller was happy.
5. The Wise Man

It made the man smiled.

Long ago, there was a young, cheeky boy who looked after some sheep near a village.
The boy was often bored.

The villagers came running up the hill to save the sheep.
However, when they got there, there was no wolf.
The boy laughed at them.
“I tricked you!” he said.
“You must not tell lies!” said the villagers angrily and went back to the village.
Soon, the boy was bored again.
He thought for a minute and shouted, “Wolf! Wolf”
Again, the villagers rushed up the hill to save the sheep.
The boy laughed at them.
“I tricked you again!” he said.
“You must not tell lies!” shouted the villagers.
They hurried back down to the village.
Later that day, a huge wolf really come into the field.
The boy cried and cried, “Wolf! Wolf”
This time, the villagers didn’t believe the boy.
No one came to help and the wolf ate all of the sheep.
7. The Princess and The Pea

A prince longed to get married.
There were many fine girls in the kingdom, but his mother, the queen, insisted that he wait for a real princess.
One night, a princess came to the castle gate.
Her carriage had broken down, and she needed shelter for the night.
The prince fell in love with her, but his mother wanted proof that she was a real princess.
The queen slipped a single dried pea under a dozen mattresses on the bed.
Only a real princess would be tender enough to feel it.
The princess tossed and turned that night, and woke up quite black and blue from the pea.
Only then did the queen agree to her happy son’s marriage.
